About APA Style

APA Style is commonly used in psychology, the social sciences, and in some health sciences, such as occupational therapy.  The style is outlined in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. The most recent edition is the 7th editon, published in 2020.

Citing Business Sources

Use the report's unique identifying number in parentheses after the report title.

Include a more specific description in brackets than just [Industry report]. IBIS has many different types of reports, many of which have the same numbers or titles. For example, specify if a report is a [Global industry report] or a [U.S. specialized industry report].

Example - APA Style: 

Tang, L. (2024, October). Pet Grooming & Boarding in the US (US81291) [U.S. industry report]. IBISWorld. https://www.ibisworld.com/

Example - APA Style:

Citing company profiles: Use the retrieved from date, as no date is provided.
Name of Author Organization. (Date). Title of company profile [Company profile]. Retrieved date from URL.

Ex. Mergent Online. (n.d.). Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. [Company profile]. Retrieved November 21, 2024, from 
    https://www.mergentonline.com/login.php

 

Citing SEC filings: 
Name of Author Organization. (Date). Title of filing. Retrieved date from URL.

The titles of MRI-Simmons datasets are not very descriptive. Include a description of the variables you used so that somebody else can duplicate your result set.
 

Example - APA Style:

MRI-Simmons. (YYYY). National Consumer Study 12 month [DESCRIBE VARIABLES]. https://simmonsinsights.com/

Crosstab Results: 

MRI-Simmons. (2017). Spring 2017 NHCS adult study 12 month [Cell phones / smartphones brands owned by consumer demographic:

Quick Report - Demographic Profile:

Look under the Source section for “Survey by” -- that is the author. There may be multiple authors, in which case, format the citation as you would any work with multiple authors.

Statistics, dossiers, and reports

Daniel Research Group. (2019, September). Unit shipments of mobile personal computers (PCs) and laptops in the United States, from 2013 to 2023 (in millions) [Chart]. Statista. https://www.statista.com/ 

Anything without a named author:
